CFE-CGC
Trade union illustrations and communications
Known by its full name, the Confédération Française de l’Encadrement (French Confederation of Management), or Confédération Générale des Cadres (General Confederation of Managers), the trade union is divided into local branches within numerous companies. It is the branch at CNP Assurances that has commissioned me to ensure the visual consistency of their communications, using the tools provided by the parent union. Since 2023, they have entrusted me with creating their illustrations and handling their general communications.

Challenge & Brief
Objective:
To ensure consistent branding and attract a younger audience by modernising their existing content. To regularly design their newsletters and communication materials, as well as to illustrate their trade union election campaigns.
Challenge:
To adapt to an existing visual identity, which I am authorised to modify slightly to suit the needs of the trade union branch. To attract a new audience and ensure the layout is effective in making the content easy to read.

THE IDENTITY OF CFE-CGC
The CFECGC already has its own logo, as well as its distinctive colour scheme, which you can find on their official website, https://www.cfecgc.org/
My task was therefore, first and foremost, to adapt the trade union section’s visual identity to that of the CFE-CGC group;

NEWSLETTERS
Every month, the team members publish a newsletter covering company news or showcasing the union’s ideas and projects. I am responsible for designing a flexible layout for this newsletter and incorporating the content, as well as creating illustrations for the union.
Drawing on the union’s existing visual identity, I’ve selected shades of pink, green and blue, as well as a rounded, approachable typeface for the headlines. I’ve added my own illustrations in a vector style, closely matching the reference style.

TOGETHER, WE’LL GO FURTHER
The theme of their elections is ‘Together, we go further’.
I’ve been tasked with developing a concept based on this phrase. I’ve put forward several ideas (see sketches opposite). We’ve finally decided to depict various scenes of people working together on different tasks: cooking, sport, construction, etc.

I’ve chosen to develop a flat design style that reflects the union’s identity. To move away from the pink/blue dichotomy, I’ve added lighter shades of blue to bring depth to my trade union illustrations.
FINAL POSTERS
Following the research phase, we produced four large-scale illustrations that convey our key concept: ‘Together, we go further’. The aim was to depict employees working together towards a common goal to build something even better as a team.
These images will then be used as graphic elements in the communication materials for the works council election campaign.
CAMPAIGN
We eventually produced a range of communication materials featuring the various trade union illustrations: leaflets, a quiz game, newsletters and posters.

Result
The union has now aligned itself with the CFE-CGC’s general charter by adopting a more modern, colourful and dynamic layout, as well as illustrations that set it apart from other unions whilst appealing to potential members.
I have been responsible for the overall communications for this union branch since 2023, producing dozens of newsletters, leaflets, trade union illustrations, posters and so on. You can find this project on my Instagram’s page, @anneceline.design
